MADISON – Gary Storck, President of the Wisconsin chapter of the
National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) announced
today that the group’s television ad supporting AB554/SB368 the Jacki
Rickert Medical Marijuana Act (JRMMA), will begin airing this weekend in
parts of Wisconsin.
“Thanks to some generous donations from $1 on up, Wisconsin NORML will
begin airing a tv ad showing the faces of Wisconsin patients who can
benefit from this compassionate exemption”, said Storck. “Wisconsin
residents who believe its time to protect patients using medical
cannabis from arrest and jail need to contact their state legislators
now or the issue will have to wait until the 2011-2012 session. Many
patients will not live that long. We hope the ad will inspire citizens
to urge the JRMMA be passed, This Bill, This Time!”
Storck, who appears at the beginning and end of the 30-second commercial
is a longtime Wisconsin medical cannabis patient and advocate as well as
the director of communications for the Wisconsin medical cannabis
advocacy group, “is My Medicine Legal YET?” (IMMLY).
The ad was created for the group by Steve Swain of No-Koast Productions.
“There’s no better feeling than helping others who deserve it, but
couldn’t help themselves,” Swain noted.
MADISON: Wisconsin’s medical cannabis movement has matured into a fully state wide effort. There were scores of rallies Saturday at Wisconsin Wal-Mart’s supporting AB554 and protesting the chain’s firing of a Michigan medical marijuana patient with cancer. People spoke up, stepped up, organized their first medical cannabis events ever. Saturday, March 27, 2010 truly represents the high-water mark of this movement so far, and shows that Wisconsin advocates have statewide reach and influence.
Eau Claire, La Crosse, Berlin, Green Bay, Onalaska, Stevens Point/Plover, Oshkosh, Appleton, Fond du Lac, Madison, three Milwaukee Wal-Marts, Waukesha, Hartford, Kenosha, Racine and West Bend were among locations reporting rallies.
MADISON: This Saturday, March 27, will mark a historic high in Wisconsin medical cannabis activism as state activists roll out rallies across the state in support of AB554/SB368, the Jacki Rickert Medical Marijuana Act. The Act, down to its last 27 days as of this writing, still needs to pass two committees and both houses to reach Gov. Jim Doyle’s desk. Gov. Doyle has been on record his entire 8 year term as being willing to sign a bill if it reaches his desk. His term ends January 2010.
In a show of solidarity with medical marijuana patients across the Midwest and to continue raising awareness of the Jacki Rickert Medical Marijuana Act in Wisconsin, members of the Facebook group Wisconsin Residents for Assembly Bill 554 and medical marijuana supporters will be conducting peaceful demonstrations across the state in unison this Saturday the 27th of March.
MADISON: With now only 33 days remaining to pass the Jacki Rickert Medical Marijuana Act as of this writing, efforts to move this critical piece of health care legislation are escalating.
On Monday evening in Madison, March 22, JRMMA supporters will be gathering at the Wil-Mar Center at 7pm for a meeting of the Madison chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML). Wil-Mar Center is located at 953 Jenifer St. Madison NORML, founded in 2004, has been a center of state medical cannabis activism since its formation, meeting twice monthly on Madison’s East Side.
