Summerfest

Summerfest starts this week, and we need all the help we can get collecting signatures outside the gates. With enough help, we could realistically collect all the signatures we need just from Summerfest!

We’re looking for dozens of volunteers to help us with this each day, especially from 5-10PM when the most people are going into the festival.

If you can help any time of any day at Summerfest, please email us, or message us on Facebook

We’ll have extra clipboards and petition forms available, so if you see us collecting while your on your way into the festival, please consider asking for a clipboard and spending some time collecting signatures with us. You don’t have to commit much time, even just 15 minutes would be a great help.

Impact of the petition

The success of this petition is very important to our overall strategy this year and the impact of this initiative will go far beyond just the City of Milwaukee. We’ll be sending a strong message – right as the election season heats up – that the people of Milwaukee, and Wisconsin, want marijuana legalized and that we are an organized group that can not be ignored. The media coverage and public discussion we will create will make legalization an issue in this year’s election and will allow us to pressure candidates to support legalization as well as mobilize voters to elect those pro-legalization candidates.

Showing that we are organized enough to pull off a successful petition of this scale will also attract support and funding to push legalization as an issue in this election. Large donors and national organizations want to see that we are a worthwhile investment, and this success with this will be that proof. Imagine funding for television ads and billboards promoting pro-legalization candidates in Wisconsin! And although our supporters are great in number, many of them are apathetic and currently believe that there is nothing they can do that will actually change anything, saying things like “It will never happen in Wisconsin”, “The government will never listen to us”, or “It’s just a matter of time, we just need to wait”. Once our initiative in Milwaukee is successful, we will show them that we can make this happen in Wisconsin, that we can force the government to listen to us, and that now is the time to push for legalization of marijuana!

So please find some time to volunteer and make this the beginning of the end for marijuana prohibition in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin reform organizations, working together, have worked to set up this goal.

We hope to gain your support in working towards putting up a billboard in the Waukesha/Brookfield/West Allis area, near districts of Sen Vukmir and Sen Lazich.

Medical Marijuana is supported by a majority of Wisconsin voters, but this medicine is being blocked by politicians. Patients are needlessly suffering. Your donation can make a big difference.

The primary goal is to put pressure on politicians who are against medical cannabis, and this is a very prominent spot for billboards, near two committee member districts. A secondary goal is to have residual effect on 2014 elections.

To achieve this goal, we are hoping to top $7500 through crowdfunding. We hope to run the billboard for 4-6 weeks before the November 2014 election.

We hope you will donate to this campaign.

The billboard will be digital, present a picture of Lazich and Vukmir with text of “Who is stopping medical cannabis in Wisconsin? Sen Lazich is… Sen Vukmir is…” It will have reference to SB363.

Your donations will be matched so donate now to double your dollars Click here to donate.
